The Al and Eva Meyer Fund was established in 2000.
Originally, it honored Al Meyer, a longtime Chorale member much loved and
honored for writing program notes, translations, and other resources that
enhanced the musical experience for both Chorale members and the audience.
Recognizing Al's lifelong passion for learning, his widow, Eva Meyer, set
up the fund to support the educational mission of the Chorale. She made a
generous initial contribution, and many of Al's friends have made regular
donations to maintain the fund. It is used primarily to provide scholarships
for high school students who sing in the choir and to pay conservatory students
who play in the orchestra. Originally called the Alfred G. Meyer Fund, the
Chorale decided to change the name to the Al and Eva Meyer Fund in 2004, after
the passing of Mrs. Meyer. While she never sang with the group, she too was a
beloved member of our community.
Additional donations to the Al and Eva Meyer Fund are always appreciated.
You may mail a check payable to the Mount Desert Summer Chorale to PO Box 887,
Mt. Desert ME 04660, and note "Meyer Fund" in the memo line. As always, the
Chorale is grateful for your support.
